Moshi Monsters Furi

In this lesson, let’s take a look at how to draw a simple cartoon monster – a Moshi Monsters Furi.

Actually, this drawing tutorial is really easy as this particular Moshi Monsters character is composed of only a few simple shapes – making the creative process all the more straight forward.

They have an incredible involuntary attraction to the Poppet species of Moshi Monster, which they find irresistible. Furi are particularly good at learning tricks and tend to express themselves in cute ways when doing ordinary tasks - for example when they eat they almost perform for their owners, making cute noises and something of a mess.

Here we go!

First Step – Draw the Shape of Your Moshi Monster

The Furi from the Moshi Monsters can be simplified (if you wish) into a couple ovals. And based on the position I’ve come up with here – looking at you straight on… a centerline can also be very helpful in bringing the shape of your character into view ahead of time…

As always, create a framework for your character if you find it to be of help. It’s nice to establish proportion early on in your work, as you can have more fun with your drawing, focusing more so on the development and detail of your monster.

So… got a nice little guideline to work with then? Perfect! Let’s continue…

Second Step – Draw Your Furi!

Much the same as any other character, it’s a good idea to begin your Moshi Monsters Furi with the eyes. Use the cross to help put them in place – and then… once you’ve developed the rest of the face area, go ahead and branch out to the other parts of the head (the fur!) – and then on to the body.

Here’s how to draw a Furi from the Moshi Monsters…

Keeping things nice and simple, drawing a Furi from the Moshi Monsters really is pretty easy to do. And what’s really neat about this character, is the ‘spike-like’ pattern that its fur takes on. If you look at another picture of this creature, you’ll see that the spikes can be drawn in a number of different ways – as just like any animal with fur… it’s bound to change shape slightly when viewed from different angles and in different positions.
